Betzitglunki St. Märgen e.V.
Because every Betzitglunki is so happy and so glad!
The Betzitglunki guild currently consists of 40 active costumers. The Betzitglunki costume consists of a wooden mask with a straw hat, ¾-length black trousers, a yellow shirt, black lace-up boots, a long stick and a rätsch.
The story of the Betzitglunki goes back to a legendary figure that parents used to scare their children if they were not home before the "Angelusläuten" (the time of evening prayer = Betzit).
"Come home the right time, get the Betzitglunki."
It sounded like this or something similar when the children went out to play and the parents didn't want their children to go home too late.
Today, especially on Rosenmendig, when the guild invites children to the children's ball in the Schwarzwaldhalle, it's "come with me to the Betzitglunki, and if you're good, you'll get a sausage."
