Fishing in Titisee-Neustadt
Lake Titisee has drinking water quality and is known for its abundance of fish. The largest pike ever caught in Lake Titisee in 1988, weighing 16 kg and measuring 1.32 cm in length, can be viewed on the ground floor of the Kurhaus in Titisee.
Lake Titisee is the largest natural lake in the Black Forest. It is 2 kilometres long and 1 kilometre wide. It lies approx. 845 metres above sea level.
It covers an area of 1.3 km² and is up to 40 metres deep. It owes its formation to the Feldberg glacier of the last ice age. It is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. Unique is the spiny bream (Isoetes echinospora) and the lake bream (Isoetes lacustris), which otherwise only occurs in the Feldsee and is a remnant of the last ice age.
Lake Titisee is part of a nature reserve and private motorboats (including electric motors) are not permitted on the lake.
