The association was founded in 1996 and has members from the areas of trade, crafts, commerce and services.

The objectives of the association are

Presentation of our communities as shopping and commercial centres
Promotion and presentation of the efficiency of our businesses
Support for tourism
Optimising cooperation with Black Forest Highlands Tourismus GmbH (HTG)
Promotion of culture through our own events
Promotion of co-operation between the individual businesses in Hinterzarten and Breitnau
Improving the image of the town, which represents all businesses to the outside world
Representation of the interests of the businesses with the municipalities, the HTG, tourism service providers and authorities
Targeted advertising campaigns
Cooperation with other interest groups and associations
Mutual assistance between members
Organisation of lecture events for the further education of individual members
Regular general meetings to critically analyse current topics.
