The church, which was built between 1687 and 1688 (formerly the Catholic parish church of St Martin), was handed over to the Protestant parish in 1976 and consecrated as the "Church of the Redeemer" in 1978. The interior painting from the last quarter of the 17th century in Mannerist style was only uncovered after the restoration in 1976 and is considered by connoisseurs to be a particularly valuable example of this style. The coat of arms of Abbot Romanus (Vogler), under whose aegis the church was built, was uncovered above the sacristy door. The altar and tabernacle originally located in St Martin's Church can now be found in the new Catholic church between Hinterdorf and Vorderdorf, which was consecrated in 1976, as can the side altarpieces donated in 1695.
