Founded in 1874, the Stadtmusik St. Georgen im Schwarzwald e. V. can look back on a long tradition, having been in existence for almost 150 years.
Around 54 active musicians aged between 15 and 91 currently play in our main orchestra.
We focus on the joy of making music together and working together. The highlight of the year, both for us musicians and for the audience, is the festive concert on 3 Advent in the St. Georgen town hall.
But we also do a lot during the year. For example, we provide the musical framework for many municipal events such as the New Year's reception of the town of St. Georgen or the Memorial Day and we are well represented at the annual town festival. Of course, we are also always at the forefront of the carnival parade.
But we also showcase our skills when travelling and proudly represent our town. Among others, we have already visited our twin towns Museros (Spain), Vesilahti (Finland), Scandale (Italy) and St Raphael (France). We are in active dialogue with these cities, as we attach great importance to these musical partnerships. New ties are also being forged. For example, when Stadtmusik travelled to County Galway in Ireland for the first time in 2013. We are also regularly invited to the Montmartre Wine Festival in Paris as the only German participant in the parade.
