The Lenzkirch Ski Club began expanding the "Schächele facilities" back in 2014 and added a number of mountain bike trails of various difficulty levels to the existing network of hiking trails dating back to 1920. At the end of 2017, the forestry authority and the municipality also gave the green light for official approval. However, on 2 January 2018, storm Burglind destroyed the entire facility. Thanks to the tireless efforts of former forester Andreas Schellbach and his team, as well as the generous support of the municipality, the facility was restored to its former glory in September 2018.
After the Lenzkirch Ski Club disbanded in 2024, the Franz-Josef-Faller-Schule took over the maintenance and care in cooperation with the previous coordinator of the Lenzkirch Ski Club. The cooperation was a good idea as the Franz-Josef-Faller-Schule runs an MTB workshop and an MTB group with the pupils and also uses the MTB trail.
