The association ''Winterhalter in Menzenschwand'' e.V. has set itself the task of creating an institution that commemorates and adequately honours the two painter brothers Franz Xaver (1805-1873) and Hermann Winterhalter (1808-1891), who were born in Menzenschwand.
This institution promotes their fame and awakens and maintains interest in their artistic work.
Their fame is promoted throughout Europe through appropriate advertising across borders, as Franz Xaver and Hermann Winterhalter were the best-known and most popular princely painters at all European courts at the time. They documented the European aristocracy in its entirety. Their work should therefore be regarded and preserved as valuable European cultural heritage.
