Hexenlochmühle: The Hexenlochmühle is the only mill in the Black Forest that is powered by two water wheels. In 1825, the part with the smaller water wheel was built as a forge and the part with the larger water wheel was added as a sawmill. Today, the mill with its inn is a popular destination for excursions.
University town: Furtwangen University emerged from the first German watchmaking school, founded by engineer Robert Gerwig, after whom it is named today. Around 4,500 students attend courses in media, economics, computer science and engineering here.
St Martin's Chapel: The appearance of today's chapel can be traced back to a legend according to which the Kolmenhof farmer made a vow around 1900. Should God deliver his family from economic hardship, he promised to give the church new splendour. He was obviously answered, as the chapel was restored and consecrated for the second time in 1906.
Furtwangen and its suburbs
Neukirch: The climatic health resort of Neukirch is known for the farm in Fallengrund. This is the Fallerhof, which has been the filming location for the outdoor scenes of the popular series "Die Fallers" since 1994.
Schönenbach: The district is located on the Breg river, which flows through it over a distance of around 4.5 kilometres. It is well worth a visit for fly fishermen, as guest fishing day passes are issued in Schönenbach. A valid annual fishing licence is required.
Linach: The village takes its name from the Linach stream, which also feeds the reservoir of the same name. The Linach dam is an accessible dam wall, and there is also an educational trail around the lake on the subject of hydropower and the local flora.
Rohrbach: A chapel was built next to a farm in Rohrbach around 1600. Below the chapel stood a huge maple tree, 700 years old. Today, only remnants of it can still be seen, as the farm burned down twice and the tree suffered as a result.
