ARCATA Chamber music concert
arcata stuttgart e. V. is a dedicated string orchestra with over 800 concerts worldwide. It promotes young talent, is socially committed and celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2024 with a memorial concert for Helga Drews in Friedenweiler.
With over 800 concerts in Germany and abroad, the arcata stuttgart e. V. string orchestra is one of the most important orchestras of its kind and provides a stage for both renowned and up-and-coming soloists. A particular concern of the orchestra is the promotion of young musicians as well as a comprehensive social commitment. As a project partner of ‘Kultur für Alle Stuttgart e. V.’, arcata supports free access to cultural events for those in need. In addition, the ensemble organises intercultural concerts together with the Haus der Heimat Baden-Württemberg and is committed to barrier-free cultural participation for people with dementia and their relatives with the ‘On the Wings of Music’ project.
For his artistic and social work, founder and artistic director Patrick Strub was honoured with the Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 2023 - awarded in the name of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The artistic quality and versatility of the orchestra is documented by numerous radio productions and a multifaceted discography, which has been presented several times on various radio stations.
In 2024, arcata stuttgart celebrated its 40th anniversary as well as the anniversary of the concert series ‘Chamber Concerts arcata stuttgart in Friedenweiler’, a cultural promotion project in rural areas initiated by the Helga Drews Foundation. This year's 41st concert in the series is dedicated to the memory of Helga Drews. The programme includes well-known and lesser-known works by Vivaldi, Mozart and Tchaikovsky. The concert is sponsored by the Helga Drews Foundation.
