New Year's concert of the Hochschwarzwald Symphony Orchestra
The Hochschwarzwald Symphony Orchestra shines at the beginning of 2025 with an opulent New Year's concert.
Following the success of last year, the Sinfonic Orchestra Hochschwarzwald, conducted by Olaf Nießing, will again present two New Year's concerts in 2025:
- Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 5:00 PM in the PAD-Halle in St. Blasien
- Sunday, January 12, 2025, at 5:00 PM in the Kurhaus Titisee.
The program features a mix of classical and contemporary pieces:
The first part includes Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite, with a reading of E.T.A. Hoffmann’s The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by Wolfgang Endres, evoking childhood memories.
In the second half, the orchestra showcases young local talent performing in various genres: D. Popper’s Hungarian Rhapsody (soloist Pia Rheiner on cello), P. de Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy (soloist Sofia Perkins on violin), Leonard Bernstein's I Feel Pretty from West Side Story (singers Carolina Dietsche, Maria Nießing, Amelie Sharma, and Maria Backhaus), and J. Strauss’ Kaiser Waltz. The concert concludes with A. Márquez’s Danzón No. 2 featuring Latin American rhythms.
Additionally, the Junior Orchestra, conducted by Alexandra Stumpf, will perform two pieces. The orchestra invites everyone to celebrate the start of 2025 with a festive and lively atmosphere.
