Mühlenfranzenhof
Our farm offers a 94 m² holiday apartment that can accommodate up to four people. Our small self-service farm shop sells our own and regional products, providing everything you need. Schönwald is famous for its hiking trails and winter sports facilities and is the home of the Black Forest cuckoo clock.
We are a small Black Forest farm in Schönwald with 14 cows and their offspring, three goats, chickens and a dog. The farm was built in 1755 and has been family-owned for five generations. The ‘Libding’ (annex, also known as the old people's quarters) was built in 2003. The name ‘Mühlenfranzenhof’ probably comes from the builder, who came from the sawmill (Sägehof opposite) and built a new house here. However, the farm name is little known or unknown among the locals.
We attach great importance to sustainability: the water comes from our own spring, the wood from our own forest, the electricity from our own roof, and the basic feed for our animals from the land we cultivate without artificial fertilisers. Living from and with nature also means using its resources sparingly and giving something back, letting it breathe, farming extensively.
