St. Wilhelmer Hut
The St. Wilhelmer Hütte treats you to regional cuisine and a wide range of lovingly homemade specialities. Nestled amidst the stunning mountain scenery at an altitude of 1,423 metres, you can enjoy a relaxing break.
Welcome to one of the oldest cattle huts on the Feldberg!
The Sankt Wilhelmer Hütte was built in 1819 by farmers from St. Wilhelmer and Todtnauberg for the ‘Herder’. The so-called ‘Herder’ manage the Black Forest alpine huts. The current owner is the St. Wilhelmer Hütte Pasture Cooperative.
Martina and Thomas Zepf have been the tenants of the St. Wilhelmer Hut since May 2022 and are absolutely delighted to welcome you as a guest. As a couple, they have been a great team for over 25 years and have now finally realised their dream of owning their own mountain hut.
At an altitude of 1,423 metres, the St. Wilhelmer Hütte is the highest alpine hut in Baden-Württemberg and boasts a stunning location, which can be enjoyed from the sunny outdoor terrace.
The rustic interior offers seating for 60 people.Unfortunately, overnight stays are not possible.
Hut owner Thomas Zepf:
“The talk of the town is my wife’s cherry cake. I hear nothing but good things about it. Then there’s the homemade cheese spaetzle, which is always highly praised by our guests.
The Feldbergsteig trail passes right by our hut and is very popular: a varied circular route with both alpine and more leisurely sections, leading over the highest peak in Baden-Württemberg. Anyone visiting the Black Forest should see it at least once.”
