The hike leads from Breitnau down through the Höllental valley and then back up to the Ravenna Gorge - a particular highlight of the tour. Impressive bridges and footbridges wind their way through the wild and romantic gorge, constantly opening up new perspectives of the impressive natural scenery. The varied route delights with fascinating views and makes the hike a special experience in the Black Forest Highlands.

The tour also leads through a section of the Black Forest Highlands heritage trail. At Hofgut Sternen, there is the opportunity to discover regional souvenirs and stop off for a bite to eat in a cosy atmosphere. A detour to the traditional "rope-making workshop" also offers an insight into old craftsmanship.
Directions
The hike begins at the church in Breitnau, alternatively at the "Kirche" bus stop (line 7216 from Hinterzarten or Kirchzarten) or at the car park behind the church - depending on how you arrive. From there, the trail first leads down into the valley floor and through the idyllic Pfarrwäldele to the Obere Mühle. The route continues past the Schuhhof and the "Am Neuhof" area via the Posthalde to below the Kaiserwacht.
The trail then leads down to Hofgut Sternen, which is ideal for a cosy stop-off. Immediately afterwards, a special highlight of the tour awaits: the route leads under the imposing Ravenna viaduct into the wild and romantic Ravenna Gorge. The trail meanders steadily uphill over bridges and narrow paths along the rushing water. You pass the historic Großjockenmühle mill and the Ravenna sawmill.
The hike continues through the Jungholz forest and past the Jungholz barbecue area to the Mooshof farm. The tour finally returns to Breitnau via Pfarrwäldele to the starting point at the church.
