The Hüsli, which was built in 1912, provides an impressive insight into the way of life of the people of the Black Forest Highlands. With its authentic furnishings, it conveys an authentic feeling of what life was once like in the region.
The Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus brewery, which is known far beyond the region, is located in the immediate vicinity. The name "Rothaus" goes back to the patrician Roth family, who began building the so-called "Rothen Haus" back in 1340. Today, the brewery combines centuries of history with modern brewing techniques - an ideal place for an enjoyable break.
Fortified by a Tannenzäpfle or a refreshing Radler, the tour continues to the idyllic hamlet of Roggenbach. There, the impressive ruins of the Roggenbach castles await you in the immediate vicinity, telling of the region's eventful past and inviting you to take a short exploration tour.
The route then runs through the picturesque Erlenbach valley, where the path winds gently uphill. You finally return to the starting point - with many new impressions in your luggage.

You start your tour in Schaffhauserstraße in the centre of Grafenhausen. At the Galgenvogelbrunnen fountain, turn left onto Kirchsteig. The Kirchsteig leads you uphill towards the Rothaus brewery, past the Black Forest House of the Senses. The house offers an exciting Black Forest-style experience. Your own senses are brought to life with special exhibits. After around three kilometres, you will reach the historic Hüsli Folklore Museum. The Brauereigasthof Rothaus brewery inn invites you to cool off before the rest of the ascent. After the Rothaus adventure playground, turn right and keep right again after a few metres. After a pleasant climb through the forest, you reach the village of Balzhausen.
Follow the Dresselbacherweg until you reach the highest point of the tour after a few metres. At the next junction, turn right onto the K6520 and keep right again after a few metres. The refreshing descent, first through the cool forest and then on a small road along the Steina, makes up for all the effort of the strenuous ascent. Shady rest areas along the way and the Hotel | Gasthof Sommerau invite you to take a break. After around 9 kilometres, you reach the Steinasäge. At the crossroads, turn right onto the L170 and after a few metres turn left onto the L159. The country road takes you to the hamlet of Roggenbach, where you turn right immediately after the building onto the "Großer Wald" path. Here you can also plan a detour to the over 800-year-old Roggenbach ruins.
The ruin marks the lowest point of the tour. Now spur on your athletic ambition to conquer the metres in altitude required to reach Grafenhausen. The approximately 6-kilometre climb can be made more bearable by cooling off briefly in the Trestenbachweiher pond.
Before entering Grafenhausen, turn left onto Mühleweg. The gentle ascent forms the end of this wonderful tour. After a few metres, you will reach the starting point.
