The ideal starting point for the cross-country ski trails in St. Märgen is at the sports ground/ Schwarzwaldhalle (large car park for hikers). It is approx. 1 km outside the village in the direction of Thurner on the left-hand side.
It is a nice introductory circuit for connoisseurs. The circuit is in open, sunny terrain and leads slightly uphill towards Rankmühle. There we have a marvellous panoramic view of the Feldberg, the Vosges mountains and the monastery towers of St. Märgen. At sunset, we can experience a wonderful atmosphere. Now we have to be careful on the upcoming descent and the sharp left-hand bend. The trail continues across meadows and fields and takes us back to the sports ground.
