The varied circular walk begins in the idyllic spa garden at the Haus des Gastes, the historic stables building. From here, the trail initially leads gently uphill via the Tuskulumweg to the Luisenruhe with its newly designed pavilion - a wonderful place for a first rest, accompanied by a marvellous view of the cathedral in the valley.
A shady forest path leads downhill and offers the opportunity to take a short detour to the Eichendorff quotation stone, which invites you to pause for a moment with a poetic poem. This is followed by a short, invigorating climb along the Windberg path, past a small waterfall, up to the "Groll und Schmoll Bank". Tradition has it that this is a good place to argue and quarrel, but also to reconcile with one another.
The trail continues along the Philosophenweg to the wildlife enclosure, where you can meet animals, but there is also a playground and barbecue area where you can linger.
Further on, there is a choice between two attractive variants: The path along the Alb ford invites you to take off your shoes and refresh your feet in the clear water, while the alternative route via the Wasmer memorial stone scores with a quieter, more contemplative atmosphere.
Both paths finally reunite and lead up to the Weißenstein - the highlight of the tour. An impressive panorama opens up here, which more than rewards the effort of the ascent and invites you to linger.
The return route leads back to the spa garden, where the hike comes to an end. Finally, you have the opportunity to discover the impressive cathedral from the inside and reflect on the impressions of this varied tour.
Wegbeschreibung
The starting point is the spa garden at the Haus des Gastes, the "Marstallgebäude" (1). Via the Tuskulumweg, the path leads you up to the Luisenruhe (2) with its pavilion - a lovely place for a first break with a view of the cathedral in the valley. From there, the trail leads downhill along a forest path, where it is worth taking a detour to the Eichendorff quotation stone.
You then climb up the Windberg path with its small waterfall to the "Groll und Schmoll Bank" rest area (3). Via the Philosophenweg trail, you reach the game reserve (4) - ideal for observing, feeding, playing or picnicking.
From here you have two options:
- Normal route via the Alb ford to the "An der Alb" station (5) - perfect for taking off your shoes and refreshing your feet in the cool water.
- Alternative route via the Wasmer memorial stone.
Both routes take you via the Skiclub-Pfädle up to the Weißenstein with Tosca cross (6), the highlight of the hike with a fantastic view and rest area.
The tour ends back in the Kurgarten. Finally, the Domgeist and Domspatz invite you to discover the impressive cathedral (7) from the inside.

The premium hiking trail - Domsteig is not suitable for pushchairs, but can be walked with children if they are sure-footed.
The path is suitable for dogs. Due to the steps and narrow paths, please keep your dog on a lead and watch out for other hikers.
