Path condition
The "Schlühüwana" nature theme trail is located between the Rothaus brewery and the idyllic Schlüchtsee lake and delights nature explorers of all ages. But what does "Schlühüwana" actually mean? The name is made up of Schlüchtsee, Hüsli, forest and nature park. Numerous adventure stations, exciting hands-on activities and artistic wooden sculptures await you on the 2.6-kilometre circular trail. These were created from roots and tree remains left behind by hurricane Lothar in 1999 and were transformed into imaginative works of art by hobby carver Herbert Hofmeier.
An impressive snake and funny gnomes greet you at the entrance. The barefoot trail, forest xylophone, animal pit and tree telephone invite you to experience nature with all your senses. The stalking trail takes you quietly through the forest where, with a bit of luck, you can even spot shy forest dwellers. Other stations such as the insect hotel, the water adventure station and the place of silence provide a variety of discoveries along the way. If you wish, you can extend the route by a further two kilometres and walk around the Schlüchtsee lake. After the adventure, the kiosk by the lake invites you to take a break. On hot summer days, the perfect refreshment awaits in the bathing lake.
Author's recommendation
A dip in the cool waters of the Schlüchtsee. Especially in early summer, you can admire the wonderful water lilies at the back of the lake.
Directions
Cuckoo, welcome to Schlühüwana Park.
You're probably wondering what the word "Schlühüwana" means? The answer is: Schlüchtsee-Hüsli-Wald-Natur-Park.
You will be greeted at the entrance to the trail by a scary snake and funny gnomes. Right at the start, you can feel nature with your feet on the barefoot path and then play the forest xylophone. You will pass all kinds of other stations where you can explore nature in a fun way.
A wooden squirrel at the turn-off shows you the right way to the next stations, which test your senses and dexterity. In the animal jumping pit, you can compare your jumping ability with that of the forest's animal inhabitants. After this test of strength, the tree telephone awaits you. Find out who's on the other end of the line. Psst, from now on you have to go quietly, because the stalking trail leads you right into the middle of the forest where, with a bit of luck, you can discover and observe the shy inhabitants. The loop can be extended to include the Schlüchtsee lake (approx. 2 km). Along the way, you will find the "Water" station, which is a splashing delight. Afterwards, stop by the insect hotel. Who lives there? Finally, you can listen to the sounds of animals at the Place of Silence before returning to the starting point.
The tour can also be started from the Black Forest House of the Senses: Keep right at the exit of the Black Forest House and walk past the Stiegeler wood sculpture workshop. A detour to the open studio is always worthwhile. Then head towards the centre of the village. Continue straight on downhill between the primary school and the Volksbank until you reach Promenadenweg, where you turn left and follow it to Schlüchtsee.
