The small group of Spießhörner peaks rises almost 500 metres above the deeply incised basin of the Menzenschwander Alb. Your ski tour to the sunny high alpine pastures of the Krunkelbachhütte starts in the valley formed by ice-age glaciers. The expansive open spaces are overlooked by the Herzogenhorn, the second highest mountain in the Black Forest at 1415 metres. The opposite side, on the Großer Spießhorn, is more secluded. The viewing pavilion there is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a snack while taking in the panorama.
