Stübenwasen trail 5.8 - 20.2 km
Hard
A challenging trail from the mountain pass Notschrei to moutnain Stübenwasen and then on to the hut Todtnauer Hütte and back again.
The Stübenwasen trail runs mostly in the forest on the section between Notschrei and the Stübenwasen Inn. After that, the terrain opens up and the panorama on the long ridge towards mountain Feldberg offers great views again and again in good weather, as well as magnificent distant views of the Alpine chain, the Jura mountains in front and the Vosges mountains across the southern Black Forest. The tour can be shortened to 5.8 km, 12 km and 14.9 km.
Author's recommendation
In fine weather, a stop at the Stübenwasen mountain inn is a must. If you don't want to interrupt the tour, the Bauerncafe am Notschrei awaits you at the end of the tour.
Directions
The route leads from the new cross-country skiing centre on the Notschrei Pass, past the Stübenwasen Inn, to the hut Todtnauer Hütte and the hut St. Willhelmer Hütte turnoff, and then back over the Stübenwasen (1380m) towards Notschrei.
There are also feeder trails to neighbouring local trails, the Schauinsland Trail, the Halden Trail, the Feldberg area and the Todtnauberg Youth Hostel. The Stübenwasenspur is also part of the famous Schonach-Belchen cross-country ski trail.
