Directions
This stage of the Way of St. James starts at the train station in Löffingen. You first make a detour to the Catholic church of St. Michael. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful churches in the Baar district.
After visiting the church, follow Untere Hauptstraße to the right and turn into Maienlandstraße a few meters later. Continue along this road until you reach the Stationenweg, which leads you to the Witterschneekapelle chapel. The Witterschneekapelle is an important place of pilgrimage.
Following the scallop shell, you cross under the B31 and continue along Ziegelhüttenstraße. After crossing the Mauchbach stream, take the fork to the left. The path soon leads you into the shade of the forest.
From there, follow the scallop shell in the direction of Neustadt. As soon as you leave the forest, you have a wonderful view of the village of Rötenbach. After a few meters, turn left onto the Klausenbachweg. You will soon discover the memorial stone in honor of the mayor Josef Winterhalder. Following the Sägeweg, you reach the Kohlwald bridge, cross it and shortly afterwards come to an old sawmill. At the crossroads after the Schlichtmoos hut, turn left towards Friedenweiler. You cross the district road and can take a detour to the water treading area at the Dobelschachen viewpoint to refresh your tired feet. Keeping to the right, you reach the center of the village. It is worth visiting the monastery church there, which used to be a Benedictine nunnery.
Follow the Schillingsweg trail to the Schillingskapelle chapel of the same name. At the crossroads, turn right, following the scallop shell. At the Bruckerweg location, turn left onto the Mittelweg, which is marked with a red diamond with a white line. This path leads you to the Max Engelsmann Hut. Here you can take a break and enjoy the wonderful view.
Following the path downhill, you pass the youth hostel and follow Rudenberger Straße into the town center. You can already see your destination, St. James' Minster. The Way of St. James shell shows you the last few meters. Your tour ends with a visit to the cathedral.
